To ensure the highest quality of our product, all of our Sun & Sea protectors (visors) and other accessories are made to order. We aim to ship all orders within a 3-5 day window. We’re an Aussie small business and during high demand periods please bear with us as we process all orders as quickly as possible. If delays are expected due to postage carriers, we’ll do our best to throw in some freebies (stickers, etc), to show our appreciation of your understanding.

All of our products are made to order. This means some additional processing time. When your order is ready for collection, you will recieve an email with the collection address. Currently, we don’t have a customer facing storefront and are primarily online only. We’re aiming to expand to a storefront some time in the near future.

MarineTech Engineering has designed the only two-piece marine instrument protector on the market. The two-piece MagnetLock system maximises both ease of use, as well as strength and fit on your device. Our MagnetLock system comes equipped on our larger visor models (9, 10, 12 inch) and utilises powerful, Teflon-coated magnets for secure attachment and easy detachment of the visor. The Teflon coating enhances corrosion resistance and reduces friction, allowing for effortless repositioning while ensuring a strong, reliable hold. This system is ideal for marine environments as it prevents rust and maintains a firm grip even in challenging conditions.

The QuickClip system comes equipped on our smaller models (5 & 7 inch visors). The system features an intuitive clip mechanism designed for easy and secure mounting. It ensures a snug fit for the visor on your device, allowing for rapid installation and removal. This system provides convenience and stability, making it ideal for users who frequently need to attach or detach their visor.

Sometimes, the factory gimbals on Lowrance, Garmin, and SIMRAD sounder units have large diameter knobs, which can make it difficult (but not impossible!) to slide our visors into place. Our visors are designed for a snug fit, and the larger knobs can sometimes make things a little too snug!

What solution do you offer for this issue?

To address this, we always include smaller diameter gimbals with our visors. These replacement gimbals are specifically designed to fit perfectly, making installation easier without compromising durability.

How do the MTE replacement gimbals compare in strength and durability to factory gimbals?

Our replacement gimbals are M6 (standard gauge in most sounder mount screws) in diameter and 16mm long. They are made from high-quality materials and offer the same strength and durability as the factory gimbals, ensuring your sounder remains securely mounted.

Our Sun & Sea Protectors are specifically designed to fit sounder units that are bracket mounted only. They are not compatible with flush-mounted units. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure the protector will fit their sounder, including checking that there is at least 50mm of clearance on either side of the sounder unit. Unfortunately, if the protector does not fit due to insufficient clearance or being used on a flush-mounted unit, we will be unable to process a refund. Please double-check your setup before purchasing.

Yes, our replacement gimbals are designed to be compatible with a wide range of Lowrance, Garmin, and SIMRAD sounders that use M6 gimbal screws, ensuring they fit your device while making it easier to install our visors. If you encounter a problem with our gimbals, please let us know and we’ll replace these with new gimbals.
